I’m a Network Security Engineer who keeps distributed enterprise networks secure, observable and resilient. My path has run through IT infrastructure at Absa Bank, data analytics at Safaricom and now network security at Calltek, and the thread connecting them is the same: understand why a system behaves the way it does, then close the gaps before they become incidents.

Data is where I learned to read systems by their signals. Two years of chasing anomalies across large operational datasets taught me to look for root causes, not symptoms, and an access review I started on my own showed me how much risk sits in permissions nobody checks. That’s what pulled me into security. Today I apply the same analytical discipline to network telemetry, configuration audits and incident response, and I’m growing toward cloud security and security engineering at scale.

  1. Network Security Engineer

    I secure and operate enterprise networks spread across many sites, and lead the response when they break.

    • Administer and harden distributed networks through Cisco Meraki (cloud-managed), Ruckus SmartZone and RXG gateways, covering secure configuration, configuration audits, troubleshooting and lifecycle management of access points and switches.
    • Diagnose routing, switching, VPN, firewall, DNS, DHCP and access-control faults with network telemetry and packet-level analysis, tracing every incident to its root cause.
    • Audit configurations across sites to catch anomalies, connectivity gaps and security-relevant misconfigurations early, shrinking the attack surface.
    • Lead critical incident bridge calls during major network and security events, coordinating infrastructure teams, vendors and field technicians to restore service fast.
    • Keep escalation records accurate in incident-management platforms, helping cut the ticket backlog by 15%.

  2. Data Analyst

    Sep 2023 – Sep 2025

    Safaricom PLC · Nairobi, Kenya

    Two years turning raw operational data into decisions, and where security became my focus.

    • Automated data validation and operational reporting, improving reporting efficiency by 80% and removing manual errors from business-critical dashboards.
    • Initiated a security and access review of tribe-level reporting workflows. I found gaps in user access controls, data visibility and role-based access, and my recommendations moved access closer to least privilege.
    • Partnered with network, technical and business teams to investigate data anomalies and validate source-system outputs. It’s the same pattern analysis I now use to spot anomalous behaviour in security telemetry.
    • Safeguarded data integrity across high-volume reporting environments, escalating source-system and database issues to the right technical owners.

  3. System Administrator

    Absa Bank PLC · Nairobi, Kenya

    Where it started: the infrastructure and identity foundations of a bank.

    • Handled Tier 1 and 2 infrastructure and identity requests in Active Directory: provisioning, deactivation and permissions hygiene for 350+ employees.
    • Configured critical network hardware (access points, switches, routers), contributing to physical network security and resilience.
    • Monitored endpoint and server activity using Nagios.
